Role Overview

The Senior BIM Specialist – 4D Planning defines the 4D BIM strategy and methodology across data centre and mission-critical projects, holds sign-off authority for 4D deliverables, and mentors junior and intermediate specialists. The role sets 4D-related requirements into BIM Execution Plans and Exchange Information Requirements, leads sequencing strategy for complex mission-critical scopes, and acts as the senior interface between BIM coordination, MEP BIM engineering, and project planning and controls, across CTS's EMEA project portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define the 4D BIM strategy and methodology at bid and project level, including model-to-schedule integration approach, tooling, and data standards.
  • Author and own the 4D-related sections of BIM Execution Plans (BEPs), setting Level of Development (LOD) and Level of Information Need requirements into the BEP and Exchange Information Requirements (EIR).
  • Provide technical review and sign-off of 4D models, sequencing simulations, and progress-reporting outputs before issue to clients and project leadership.
  • Lead constructability and sequencing strategy for complex mission-critical scopes, including power, cooling, and integrated systems testing/commissioning sequencing.
  • Advise senior project leadership and clients on programme risk and phasing options visualised through 4D analysis.
  • Establish and standardise 4D workflows, templates, and progress dashboards across projects, and drive tool and process improvements.
  • Lead time-based clash and interface resolution across mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural disciplines in coordination with BIM Coordinators and discipline BIM engineers.
  • Mentor and develop junior and intermediate BIM/4D specialists, setting QA standards and reviewing their deliverables.
  • Act as the senior point of contact for 4D planning with BIM Managers, Planning Managers, and clients, including at project review and coordination meetings.
  • Support proposal and business development activity by defining 4D BIM capability and methodology for tenders.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or Architecture; Master's preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in BIM coordination, construction planning, or 4D/VDC roles, including experience leading 4D delivery on mission-critical or data centre projects.
  • Expert command of Synchro 4D and Navisworks, with advanced proficiency in Revit.
  • Strong command of Primavera P6 (or MS Project) and demonstrated experience authoring BIM Execution Plans and setting LOD/Level of Information Need requirements.
  • Deep knowledge of ISO 19650 information management principles and Common Data Environment governance (BIM 360/ACC or equivalent).
  • Proven experience sequencing MEP installation, integrated systems testing, and commissioning activities in mission-critical environments.
  • Proven leadership, mentoring, and client/stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Good written and spoken English.
