Role Overview

The Architect owns the design and delivery of architectural packages for data centre and mission-critical facilities — from concept through detailed design to construction issue. The role covers facility layout (white/grey/support space), building envelope, modularity, security zoning, and construction detailing, and coordinates directly with civil, structural, MEP, ELV and security disciplines. The position ensures designs comply with Portuguese building regulations and international data-centre standards, across CTS's EMEA project portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design of architectural packages, layout planning, envelope, compartmentation, and detailing from concept through to construction issue.
• Coordinate directly with civil, structural, MEP, ELV, and security teams to resolve interface issues across layout, plant space, and access.
• Develop and issue technical drawings, schedules, specifications, and construction detailing.
• Prepare and support planning and licensing submissions, and coordinate on RJUE/PDM and SCIE (fire safety) architectural requirements.
• Apply data-centre design standards (Uptime Tier, ANSI/TIA-942, EN 50600/ISO/IEC 22237, ASHRAE TC 9.9) to layout, envelope, and resilience decisions.
• Review contractor submittals, materials, and samples for compliance with design intent and specification.
• Respond to RFIs and provide technical support to site teams during construction.
• Lead architectural BIM/Navisworks coordination and clash detection for the discipline.
• Check and guide the output of junior team members on the same project.
• Contribute to bills of quantities, cost estimates, and value-engineering reviews for architectural scope.

Required Skills and Experience

• Master's degree (Mestrado) in Architecture or equivalent EU qualification.
• 5–10 years of experience in architecture, including exposure to industrial, infrastructure, or mission-critical/data centre projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit/BIM workflows; working knowledge of Navisworks for coordination.
• Working knowledge of at least one 3D visualisation tool (SketchUp, Lumion, or Enscape).
• Solid understanding of building envelope, compartmentation, layout planning, and construction detailing for large-scale facilities.
• Familiarity with Portuguese building and planning frameworks (RGEU, RJUE, PDM, SCIE — DL 220/2008 / Portaria 1532/2008) and licensing processes.
• Awareness of data-centre standards (Uptime Tier, TIA-942, EN 50600) and sustainability certifications (LEED/BREEAM) is an advantage.
