About CTS Group

CTS Group is a fast-growing international design and build company specialising in data centre development across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). We combine engineering excellence, innovation, and digital transformation to deliver high-performance, sustainable, and future-ready data centre solutions.

With over 40 nationalities represented across our teams, CTS fosters a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance culture where innovation and technical precision drive every project. Beyond construction, CTS develops digital systems and standardised modular data centre units to meet the evolving needs of hyperscalers, colocation providers, and enterprise clients.

Our proven track record and strong partnerships have established CTS as a trusted industry leader delivering large-scale, complex data centre facilities with speed, efficiency, and excellence.

Role Overview

The Landscape Architect owns the design and delivery of landscape and external works packages for data centre and mission-critical facilities — from concept through detailed design to construction issue. The role covers site layout, planting, hardscape, grading, and stormwater management, and coordinates directly with civil, structural, MEP, and security disciplines.

The position ensures designs comply with Portuguese planning requirements and international sustainability standards, working closely with ecologists, landscape consultants, and multidisciplinary engineering teams across CTS's EMEA project portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of landscape and external works packages, including planting, hardscape, grading, and sustainable drainage (SuDS), from concept through to construction issue.

  • Coordinate directly with civil, structural, MEP, and security teams to resolve interface issues across site layout, drainage, and access.

  • Develop and issue technical drawings, planting schedules, specifications, and construction detailing.

  • Prepare and support planning and environmental submissions, including input to landscape and visual impact assessment (LVIA) and coordination on PDM/RJUE requirements.

  • Coordinate with external ecologists and landscape consultants on biodiversity, habitat, and screening/buffer planting strategies.

  • Review contractor submittals, materials, and samples for compliance with design intent and specification.

  • Respond to RFIs and provide technical support to site teams during construction.

  • Support MEP/BIM coordination and clash detection for external works scope.

  • Check and guide the output of junior team members on the same project.

  • Contribute to bills of quantities, cost estimates, and value-engineering reviews for landscape scope.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Master's degree (Mestrado) in Landscape Architecture or equivalent EU qualification.

  • 5–10 years of experience in landscape architecture, including exposure to industrial, infrastructure, or mission-critical/data centre projects.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit/BIM workflows; working knowledge of Civil 3D for grading and drainage is an advantage.

  • Working knowledge of GIS tools (QGIS or ArcGIS) and at least one 3D visualisation tool (SketchUp, Lumion, or Enscape).

  • Solid understanding of planting design, SuDS/stormwater management, grading, and hardships detailing for large-scale sites.

  • Familiarity with Portuguese planning and environmental frameworks (AIA, PDM, RJUE) and REN/RAN land constraints.

  • Knowledge of biodiversity net gain principles, native/drought-tolerant planting, and wildfire-resilient landscape design is an advantage.

  • APAP membership (or eligibility) desirable; awareness of IFLA Europe professional standards.

  • Strong coordination, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills.
