Role Overview

The Senior Civil Engineer leads the design, coordination, and delivery of civil and structural engineering systems for mission-critical data center projects, providing technical leadership and mentoring junior team members. The role drives project requirements into solutions supporting resilience, scalability, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead civil and structural engineering designs from feasibility through detailed design and IFC documentation.

• Drive alignment of civil solutions with structural loads for critical equipment, cooling systems, and power infrastructure.

• Oversee drawings, specifications, and technical documentation aligned with CTS and Eurocode standards.

• Lead coordination of civil design with MEP, architectural, and specialist disciplines; work closely with BIM Coordinators across projects.

• Own resolution of complex RFIs, design changes, and site queries.

• Lead client presentations, design reviews, and coordination with authorities and licensing bodies.

• Provide senior construction support, leading site inspections and technical meetings.

• Ensure compliance with local codes, Eurocode standards, and licensing requirements; drive sustainability strategies (BREEAM/LEED).

• Approve design packages within assigned scope; own QA/QC and as-built documentation; mentor junior engineers.

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.

• 10+ years of experience in critical infrastructure, data center, or high-complexity industrial projects.

• Advanced proficiency in structural calculation and civil modelling tools (e.g. SAP2000, ETABS, AutoCAD, Revit).

• Strong knowledge of BIM workflows and Eurocode standards.

• Extensive experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing authority filings.

• Registration with the Ordem dos Engenheiros required.

• Intermediate or advanced English required.
