Role Overview

The Electrical Engineer – Special Packages owns the technical design, specification, and vendor coordination of specialist critical-power equipment packages for data center and mission-critical facilities — including UPS/battery systems, standby generators, containerised power modules, and MV/LV switchgear interfaces — from concept through IFC to as-built.

The position ensures package designs comply with IEC/EN standards and Portuguese regulatory requirements on fast-track delivery, working closely with OEMs and multidisciplinary engineering teams across CTS's EMEA project portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the technical specification, sizing, and layout of UPS/battery systems, standby generators, containerised/modular power skids, and specialist switchgear packages.

• Develop technical requirement specifications (TRS) and evaluate vendor/OEM technical and commercial proposals for special packages.

• Coordinate MV/LV interface requirements with switchgear and utility connection packages.

• Develop technical drawings, single-line diagrams, layouts, specifications, schedules, and engineering documentation for special package scope.

• Lead MEP/BIM coordination and clash detection (special package rooms/yards vs. mechanical, structural, and LV/ELV routing) in Navisworks.

• Respond to RFIs, review submittals, and approve/release design packages within the assigned scope.

• Coordinate with UPS, generator, and switchgear OEMs (e.g., Schneider Electric, ABB, Vertiv, Eaton, Caterpillar, Cummins) on equipment selection, factory acceptance testing (FAT), and delivery.

• Support integrated testing, commissioning, and load-bank testing of special package systems.

• Ensure compliance with IEC 60364, IEC 61439, and Portugal's RTIEBT for special package scope.

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related); Master's an advantage.

• 5–10 years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on critical power equipment packages, including exposure to mission-critical/data-center projects.

• Strong command of IEC 60364, IEC 61439, EN standards, and Portugal's RTIEBT as applied to special package equipment.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP, Navisworks; working knowledge of ETAP or SKM PowerTools for interface studies.

• Strong working knowledge of UPS technologies (Li-ion vs. VRLA), generator/genset specifications, containerised power modules, and MV/LV interface considerations.

• Proven experience with OEM/vendor technical evaluation, FAT witnessing, and commissioning of critical power packages.

• Strong problem-solving, coordination, and stakeholder-management skills.
