Role Overview

The Junior Electrical Engineer – Special Packages supports the design, technical evaluation, and coordination of specialist electrical equipment packages for data center and mission-critical facilities, including UPS and battery systems, standby generators, containerised power modules, and MV/LV interface equipment. Working under the supervision of senior engineers, the role supports package technical documentation, datasheets, and vendor submittal review.

This is an opportunity to build specialist expertise in critical power equipment packages and OEM coordination within a fast-track project environment, alongside experienced engineers across CTS's EMEA project portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation of technical datasheets, specifications, and layout drawings for UPS, battery, generator, and containerised power packages, using AutoCAD Electrical and Revit MEP.

  • Assist with the review of vendor technical submittals, drawings, and equipment schedules for special packages.

  • Support sizing calculations and layout coordination for UPS/battery rooms, generator yards, and containerised/modular power skids.

  • Assist with interface coordination between special packages and LV/ELV/civil disciplines.

  • Prepare bills of quantities (BOQ), material take-offs, and equipment schedules for special package scope.

  • Assist with RFIs, technical submittals, and engineering documentation.

  • Support MEP/BIM coordination and clash detection in Navisworks.

  • Assist with factory acceptance testing (FAT), site queries, and commissioning support under guidance.

  • Ensure package designs align with applicable codes, standards, and CTS/client requirements.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • 3–5 years of experience in electrical/MEP engineering, with exposure to power equipment packages, UPS/generator systems, or EPC project delivery.

  • Working knowledge of IEC 60364, IEC 61439, and Portugal's RTIEBT.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical; working knowledge of Revit MEP; exposure to Navisworks.

  • Basic familiarity with UPS/battery technologies (Li-ion and VRLA) and generator/genset fundamentals.

  • Strong analytical and communication skills; eagerness to learn in a fast-paced, high-complexity environment.
