Role Overview

The Architect at CTS Nordics is responsible for the architectural design and delivery of data center projects from early concept through detailed design, construction, and close-out. The role ensures that architectural solutions meet functional, technical, regulatory, operational, and aesthetic requirements while supporting CTS’s core objectives of resilience, scalability, sustainability, and efficiency.
Working closely with the Design Manager and multidisciplinary engineering teams, the Architect translates client requirements into robust, compliant, and buildable architectural designs. The role requires strong coordination with MEP, civil, structural, landscape, and specialist consultants, ensuring seamless integration of architecture into complex, mission-critical facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop architectural designs from feasibility and concept through detailed design and IFC documentation.
• Ensure architectural solutions support data center operational requirements, security zoning, maintainability, and future expansion.
• Produce drawings, specifications, and technical documentation aligned with CTS standards and project requirements.
• Ensure constructability, durability, and lifecycle performance of architectural solutions.
•  Support value engineering without compromising performance or quality.
•  Coordinate architectural design with MEP, structural, civil, IT, security, and landscape disciplines.
•  Work closely with BIM Coordinators to ensure clash-free, coordinated models and drawings.
• Support the Design Manager in managing interfaces with local architects and authorities.
• Review and respond to RFIs, design changes, and site queries.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

• Support the Design Manager in client presentations, design reviews, and approvals.
• Translate client operational and functional requirements into clear architectural outcomes.
• Coordinate with local authorities, planning bodies, and regulatory agencies as required.
• Support planning applications, building permits, and authority submissions.

On-Site & Construction Support

• Provide architectural support during construction to ensure design intent is achieved.
• Participate in site inspections, technical meetings, and coordination workshops.
• Review shop drawings, material submittals, and samples for compliance.
• Support commissioning, inspections, and as-built documentation.

Quality, Compliance & Sustainability

• Ensure compliance with local building codes, fire regulations, accessibility standards, and planning requirements.
• Support sustainability strategies such as energy efficiency, material selection, and certifications (e.g., BREEAM / LEED).
• Apply CTS QA/QC processes and contribute to continuous improvement of design standards.

Certification Authorities

• Approve architectural designs and specifications.
• Ensure compliance with local codes and authority requirements.
• Oversee planning and building permit submissions.
• QA/QC of architectural drawings.
• Provide construction support and as-built documentation.

Required Skills and Experience

• Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent.
• Registered /Chartered Architect (or working towards).

Functional Knowledge and Skills

•  Architectural design across all project stages.
• Coordination with MEP-heavy and technically complex buildings.
• Proficiency in Revit, BIM workflows, MS Office, and document management.
• Knowledge of planning processes and authority requirements.
• English communication (written and spoken).

Minimum Experience Requirements

• Delivering complex industrial, infrastructure, or data center projects.
• Coordinating multidisciplinary project teams.
• Preparation of coordinated concept, detailed, and IFCdesignpackages.
• Construction support and as-built documentation experience.
• Authority submissions and permit management.
