Role Overview

The Electrical Engineer – ELV owns the design and development of electrical systems for data centers — power distribution, grounding, lighting, and standby power — from concept through IFC to as-built, working with a moderate degree of independence using EPLAN, Revit, ETAP, and DIALux.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical systems for data centers (power distribution, grounding, lighting, standby power) with limited oversight.

  • Create and manage single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, and panel schedules using EPLAN and Revit.

  • Perform power system analysis (short circuit, load flow, arc flash, protection coordination) using ETAP.

  • Develop lighting and emergency lighting designs using DIALux.

  • Coordinate directly with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, civil, architectural) to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.

  • Participate in design reviews and support compliance with international standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC, NFPA 70E), including review of junior engineers' output.

  • Prepare design documentation, specifications, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs).

  • Support client and vendor interaction on technical matters, and respond to RFIs during construction phases.

  • Ensure compliance with local electrical codes and global data center design standards.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • Proficient in ETAP, EPLAN, Revit, and DIALux.

  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards (NEC, IEC, IEEE, NFPA 70E).

  • Familiarity with Tier classifications (Uptime Institute) and redundancy concepts (N, N+1, 2N).

  • Experience in mission-critical environments (data centers, telecom, hospitals, etc.).

  • Exposure to HV/MV substations, switchgear layouts, and BMS integration.

  • Knowledge of digital twin concepts or energy monitoring systems is a plus.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.

  • Proficiency in English (mandatory); Portuguese and other languages are an advantage.

  • 6–10 years of electrical engineering experience, including exposure to data center or mission-critical infrastructure design.
