About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Lead Electrical Engineer to join our Porto office. This role is key in designing and developing high-quality, reliable, and efficient electrical systems for Data Centers.
Key Responsibilities
- Set technical direction and standards for the electrical discipline across projects, covering power distribution, grounding, lighting, and standby power systems.
- Oversee the use of EPLAN, Revit, ETAP, and DIALux across the team, ensuring quality and consistency of deliverables.
- Mentor and manage Senior and Junior engineers, reviewing design output including single-line diagrams, schematics, panel schedules, and lighting designs.
- Lead design reviews, risk identification, and resolution of complex technical issues across power system analysis and protection coordination.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients and senior stakeholders.
- Ensure organization-wide compliance with international and local electrical codes and standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC, NFPA 70E).
- Set direction on documentation standards, specifications, and BOQ practices across projects.
- Oversee RFI resolution and construction-phase support across the electrical discipline.
- Drive adoption of emerging technologies and best practices in mission-critical power systems (e.g., digital twin, energy monitoring).
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Preferably proficient in or familiar with: ETAP (power systems modeling and analysis), EPLAN (electrical schematics and control panel design), Revit (BIM modeling and coordination), DIALux (lighting simulation and design).
- Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards (NEC, IEC, IEEE, NFPA 70E).
- Familiarity with Tier classifications (Uptime Institute) and redundancy concepts (N, N+1, 2N).
- Experience in mission-critical environments (data centers, telecom, hospitals, etc.).
- Exposure to HV/MV substations, switchgear layouts, and BMS integration.
- Knowledge of digital twin concepts or energy monitoring systems is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in English (mandatory); other languages are an advantage.
Minimum Experience and Scope
- 10+ years of electrical engineering experience, with a strong track record delivering data center or mission-critical infrastructure projects.
- Sets technical direction and standards for the electrical discipline across projects.
