- PURPOSE OF THE ROLE The Assistant Project Manager plays a key role in supporting the successful delivery of high-voltage substation EPC projects across Norway and Europe. The position is responsible for assisting in the coordination, planning, and execution of project activities, ensuring alignment with technical requirements, programme schedules, and commercial objectives.
Working closely with the Project Manager and multidisciplinary teams, the Assistant Project Manager contributes to the integration of engineering, procurement, and construction activities. The role focuses on maintaining project control, supporting effective communication between stakeholders, and ensuring that deliverables are completed in accordance with project specifications, safety standards, and quality expectations.
The position also supports project reporting, risk management, and interface coordination, helping to ensure efficient project delivery while maintaining compliance with company procedures and industry regulations.

- KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Coordination & Planning
- Support the development and maintenance of project schedules, plans, and deliverables.
- Assist in coordinating engineering, procurement, and construction activities to ensure alignment with project timelines.
- Track progress against key milestones and escalate deviations where required.
Technical & Design Support
- Assist with the review of engineering designs, drawings, and specifications.
- Support the management of technical queries (RFIs) and interface coordination between disciplines.
- Ensure alignment between design intent and on-site execution activities.
Construction & Site Support
- Monitor site progress and contractor performance against scope, quality, and schedule requirements.
- Support site coordination activities, ensuring effective communication between stakeholders and subcontractors.
- Assist in the resolution of on-site issues to maintain project momentum.
Commercial & Reporting Support
- Support cost tracking, budget monitoring, and financial reporting activities.
- Assist in preparing progress reports, dashboards, and project updates for internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to risk identification, tracking, and mitigation planning.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure project activities are delivered in accordance with specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Support quality assurance processes, including inspections, audits, and documentation control.
- Assist in identifying and resolving non-conformances.
- REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
Education
- Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline (preferred).
Experience
- Experience supporting project delivery within construction, infrastructure, or EPC environments.
- Exposure to multidisciplinary engineering projects, ideally within power or energy sectors.
Technical Skills
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Understanding of project management principles, scheduling, and reporting tools.
- Knowledge of construction methodologies and compliance frameworks.
Interpersonal & Communication Skills
- Strong organisational and coordination skills.
- Effective communication across project teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced project environment.

- Comply with all applicable health, safety, and environmental legislation, regulations, and company procedures.
- Integrate safety-by-design principles into all engineering and project activities, ensuring that designs and solutions prioritise the safety of personnel, equipment, and the environment.
- Participate in risk assessments and hazard identification activities relevant to the role.
- Report safety concerns, incidents, and near-misses in accordance with company HSE procedures.
- Support the development and maintenance of a positive safety culture within the team and across projects.
- Ensure compliance with the company Integrated Management System (IMS) covering quality, safety, and environmental standards.
- REPLACEMENT POLICY In case of absence of less than one month, the Assistant Project Manager will be replaced by the Project Manager. For absences exceeding one month, a temporary replacement will be appointed by senior management in accordance with company policy. The replacement will assume the key responsibilities outlined in this job description to ensure continuity of project delivery.
