Role Overview As a Junior Special Package Engineer, you will support the technical design, procurement support, and integration of specialized modular packages for hyperscale or colocation data centers, working under the guidance of senior engineers. You will help ensure that complex Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems are delivered as plug-and-play units, bridging the gap between site construction and product engineering.
Key Responsibilities Mechanical Systems Oversight: Support ensuring the design, installation, and commissioning of mechanical systems align with project requirements, under guidance. Team Coordination: Assist in coordinating subcontractors and site teams involved in mechanical works. Quality Control: Support inspections to help verify that mechanical installations meet quality and safety standards. Issue Resolution: Help troubleshoot mechanical issues during construction and commissioning phases to prevent delays. Compliance: Support checks to help ensure mechanical systems adhere to local codes, regulations, and industry best practices. Package Design & Integration: Assist with defining technical specifications for modular infrastructure, including containerized power rooms, cooling skids, and integrated rack suites. Vendor Management: Support engagement with external vendors, assisting with delivery of equipment from initial design to Factory Acceptance Testing. Quality & Compliance: Support efforts to ensure packages meet reliability, safety, and sustainability standards, and comply with local building codes and global datacenter benchmarks. Commissioning Support: Support field teams in the onsite integration and commissioning of special packages, helping ensure connectivity with the Building Management System (BMS). Performance Optimization: Support root-cause analysis on package failures and contribute ideas for design improvements to enhance Energy Usage Effectiveness (PUE).
Certification Authorities Support technical coordination of interfaces between power, cooling, and other disciplines. Help ensure technical accuracy and discipline coordination. Support design decisions related to mission-critical systems under guidance. Contribute to technical reviews and compliance checks. Support implementation of best-practice engineering standards.
Required Skills and Experience Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
Functional Knowledge and Skills Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit. Experience with DCIM tools. Knowledge of mission-critical design principles. Strong interface management capabilities. Strong understanding of critical power and cooling systems (UPS, switchgear, generators, CRAH).
Minimum Experience Requirements 2-5 years in mission-critical environments, including: Some exposure to data centers, oil & gas modules, or marine/offshore power. Growing multidisciplinary coordination experience. Exposure to technical design and execution. Some exposure to high-reliability systems and environments.
