Role Overview The Planning Manager will lead the Planning and Scheduling team at CTS Group to deliver effective project scheduling, monitoring, and reporting across construction projects. The role involves overseeing all aspects of planning, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with organisational and industry standards. Working closely with project managers, engineers, and clients, the Planning Manager is responsible for maintaining robust schedules, driving best practices, and providing accurate programme insights to senior management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Planning and Scheduling team, including senior planners, schedulers, and coordinators.
  • Allocate resources effectively across projects to ensure the team delivers high-quality schedules and reports.
  • Oversee the development, review, and approval of baseline schedules for construction projects.
  • Ensure project schedules are robust, realistic, and account for potential risks.
  • Lead the implementation of advanced scheduling techniques, such as critical path analysis, resource optimisation, and what-if scenario planning.
  • Oversee the preparation of detailed project status reports for senior management.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to align schedules with project objectives.
  • Develop and maintain best practices, standards, and templates for planning and scheduling processes.
  • Ensure adherence to organisational policies and industry regulations.
  • Perform any additional tasks or responsibilities relevant to the role as required.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in construction project planning and scheduling, with experience in a managerial role.
  • Proven experience managing schedules for large-scale construction projects.
  • Proficiency in scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
  • Expertise in Earned Value Management (EVM), critical path analysis, and resource levelling.
  • Certification such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or PSP (Planning and Scheduling Professional) is highly desirable.
