Role Overview The Team Leader – ELV & Communications leads the design delivery of Extra Low Voltage (ELV) and communication systems across hyperscale, enterprise, and AI/ML data centre projects. The role owns the ELV and communications scope end-to-end, acting as the technical authority on structured cabling, security, life-safety, and building management interfaces.

The position works closely with electrical, mechanical, and IT teams to ensure ELV and communications systems are fully integrated into the overall data centre design, and mentors engineers within the design team to build technical capability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design delivery of ELV systems, including structured cabling, access control, CCTV, fire alarm, BMS interfaces, and public address (PA) systems, across hyperscale, enterprise, and AI/ML data centre projects.
  • Act as subject matter expert (SME) for communication infrastructure, ensuring scalability, resilience, and compliance with global standards.
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and IT teams to integrate ELV systems into the overall data centre design.
  • Ensure ELV and communications designs comply with ISO, TIA/EIA, NFPA, and applicable local codes.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and vendor submittals for technical accuracy and completeness.
  • Drive the adoption of automation, smart monitoring, and advanced communication technologies across projects.
  • Mentor engineers within the design team, fostering knowledge sharing and building ELV/communications capability.
  • Coordinate with vendors and OEMs on ELV and communications equipment selection and technical evaluation.
  • Support commissioning and integrated testing of ELV and communication systems.
  • Respond to RFIs and provide technical direction to project teams during design and construction phases.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 15+ years of experience in ELV and communications systems design, with significant exposure to hyperscale, enterprise, or mission-critical data centre projects.
  • Strong knowledge of structured cabling, access control, CCTV, fire alarm systems, BMS interfaces, and PA systems.
  • Sound understanding of ISO, TIA/EIA, and NFPA standards, and applicable local codes.
  • Experience reviewing technical drawings, specifications, and vendor submittals.
  • Exposure to automation, smart monitoring platforms, and advanced communication technologies.
  • Proven experience mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership within a design team.
  • Professional certification or membership preferred: BICSI RCDD, BICSI DCDC, Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer (ATD), Cisco CCNP/CCIE, or equivalent.
  • Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional coordination skills.
