Role Overview The Design Manager leads the design team in delivering engineering solutions that meet project requirements and client expectations, ensuring accuracy, constructability, safety, and cost-effectiveness across all design outputs.

The role owns coordination across disciplines, manages design resourcing against project schedules, and drives design quality and consistency from concept through to construction issue. Working closely with engineering, procurement, and project teams, the Design Manager ensures design deliverables are technically sound, compliant, and delivered on time across CTS's data centre project portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Mentor and manage a multidisciplinary design team, including discipline leads, engineers, and designers.
• Plan design resources and delivery schedules to meet overall project timelines.
• Lead interdisciplinary coordination and collaboration across mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, and architectural design teams.
• Review coordinated design output for accuracy, constructability, and completeness before issue.
• Streamline design workflows and ensure alignment with applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices.
• Manage design-related project management activities, including scope, programme, and budget tracking from a design perspective.
• Identify design risks and constructability issues early, and drive timely resolution with the wider project team.
• Support value engineering and cost-optimisation reviews across design packages.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, and vendors on technical queries, design reviews, and approvals.
• Ensure design deliverables meet CTS quality standards and client-specific requirements prior to issue.

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical) or Architecture; Master's degree an advantage.
• 10+ years of experience in design management, with exposure to data centre, infrastructure, or large-scale EPC projects.
• Proven experience managing and mentoring multidisciplinary design teams.
• Strong working knowledge of design coordination processes, BIM workflows, and clash detection tools (Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD).
• Solid understanding of applicable design codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience managing design programmes, resourcing, and budgets on fast-track projects.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with clients, consultants, and vendors.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
