Role Overview The Junior CSA Estimator supports the preparation of accurate and detailed cost estimates for the CSA elements of projects during the bidding phase, working under the guidance of senior estimators. The role assists with analysing project specifications, drawings, and market data to help produce quality estimates for bids.
Key Responsibilities
- Support preparation of detailed cost estimates for CSA works, including earthworks, concrete structures, steelworks, finishes, and other architectural components.
- Assist with analysing project drawings, specifications, and scope documents to determine cost implications.
- Help identify cost risks and support value engineering opportunities to enhance competitiveness.
- Support maintenance of unit rates and cost databases to help ensure accuracy and consistency in estimates.
- Support preparation of tender documents, including pricing schedules, bid clarifications, and cost summaries.
- Collaborate with the CSA Estimating Lead and other team members to help align estimates with the overall bid strategy.
- Support engagement with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain quotations.
- Participate in bid review meetings, supporting the presentation of estimates and cost justifications.
- Support market research to stay updated on material costs, labour rates, and construction methods.
- Contribute to development of standardised estimating processes and tools.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in construction estimating, with exposure to CSA works.
- Familiarity with construction materials, methods, and market trends in the CSA domain.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, or equivalent).
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and scope documents.
