- PURPOSE OF THE ROLE The Power Systems Studies Engineer supports the execution of electrical studies for high-voltage substation and medium-voltage distribution projects serving data center and industrial clients across the Nordic market. The role focuses on delivering accurate and reliable analysis to support engineering design, grid compliance, and system performance. Working within a collaborative and technically driven environment, the engineer contributes to concept, basic, and detailed design phases, while supporting senior engineers in more complex studies. The position requires solid experience in power system modelling and simulation, particularly within MV and HV networks (10kV to 400kV), ad familiarity with grid connection requirements. The role includes responsibility for cable sizing, thermal calculations, and earthing design, as well as providing technical input to support equipment sizing validation and data center-specific power distribution analysis. This is an execution-focused role with growing responsibility, offering exposure to international projects and the opportunity to further develop technical expertise in power systems analysis. Note: DCS Norway operates a competence-based resource model. While this job description defines the primary function of the role, individuals are expected to contribute across other engineering and project functions based on their competencies and the needs of the business. This approach supports team flexibility, professional development, and efficient resource utilization across projects.
- KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Power System Studies & Analysis Perform load flow and short circuit studies under supervision of senior engineers. Support protection coordination studies and arc flash analysis. Assist in harmonics and grid compliance studies for data centers and industrial projects. Perform grid connection and compliance studies, supporting TSO/DSO interface requirements. Analyze system performance under defined scenarios and identify potential issues. Prepare technical reports and documentation with guidance and review.
Cable Engineering & Earthing Design Perform cable sizing and thermal derating calculations for MV and HV cable systems. Support cable route optimization and selection of cable types. Develop earthing and lightning protection designs for substations. Ensure cable and earthing designs meet applicable standards and project requirements.
