About the Role

The Civil Engineer at CTS Group is responsible for the design, coordination, and delivery of civil and structural engineering systems for mission-critical data centre and critical infrastructure projects. The role ensures that all civil solutions are technically robust, constructible, compliant with applicable standards, and fully integrated with all other project disciplines.
Working closely with the Design Manager and multidisciplinary teams, the Civil Engineer translates project requirements into civil and structural solutions that support CTS's core objectives of resilience, scalability, sustainability, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Coordination

  • Develop civil and structural engineering designs from feasibility and concept through to detailed design and IFC documentation.
  • Ensure civil solutions support data centre operational requirements, including structural loads for mission-critical equipment, cooling systems, and power infrastructure.
  • Produce drawings, specifications, and technical documentation aligned with CTS standards, ABNT/NBR standards, and project requirements.
  • Ensure constructability, durability, and lifecycle performance of civil and structural solutions.
  • Support value engineering without compromising performance, safety, or quality.
  • Coordinate civil design with MEP, architectural, landscape, IT, and specialist disciplines.
  • Work closely with BIM Coordinators to ensure coordinated, clash-free civil and structural models.
  • Support the Design Manager in managing interfaces with local engineers, designers, and competent authorities.
  • Review and respond to RFIs, design changes, and site queries.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Support the Design Manager in client presentations, design reviews, and approvals.
  • Translate client operational and functional requirements into clear and efficient civil engineering solutions.
  • Coordinate with local authorities, licensing bodies, and regulatory agencies as required.
  • Support licensing applications, ARTs, building permits, and authority submissions.

Site & Construction Support

  • Provide civil engineering support during construction to ensure design intent is achieved.
  • Participate in site inspections, technical meetings, and coordination workshops.
  • Review shop drawings, material submittals, and samples for compliance verification.
  • Support commissioning, inspections, and as-built documentation.

Quality, Compliance & Sustainability

  • Ensure compliance with local building codes, structural standards, ABNT/NBR standards, and applicable licensing requirements.
  • Support sustainability strategies, including material efficiency, stormwater management, and environmental certifications (e.g. BREEAM / LEED / AQUA-HQE).
  • Apply CTS QA/QC processes and contribute to continuous improvement of civil design standards.

Technical Authorities & Responsibilities

  • Approve civil and structural design packages within the assigned scope.
  • Ensure compliance with local codes and authority requirements.
  • Oversee ART submissions, licensing, and building permits.
  • QA/QC of civil and structural drawings.
  • Provide construction support and as-built documentation.

Required Skills and Experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Active CREA (Regional Council of Engineering and Agronomy) registration is mandatory for practice in Brazil.
  • Registered engineer or working towards registration/accreditation.

Functional Knowledge & Skills

  • Civil and structural engineering design across all project stages.
  • Coordination with technically complex, high-load buildings with significant MEP and critical equipment.
  • Proficiency in structural calculation and civil modelling tools (e.g. SAP2000, ETABS, AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Knowledge of BIM workflows and document management platforms.
  • Proficiency in applicable ABNT/NBR standards for civil and structural engineering projects.
  • Intermediate or advanced English required (written and spoken) for communication with international teams.

Minimum Experience Requirements

  • Delivery of complex industrial, critical infrastructure, or mission-critical data centre projects.
  • Coordination of multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Preparation of coordinated concept, detailed, and IFC design packages.
  • Construction support and as-built documentation experience.
  • Management of ART submissions, authority filings, and building licences.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in critical infrastructure, data centre, or high-complexity industrial projects.

Soft Skills

  • Detail-oriented with strong technical understanding.
  • Collaborative and proactive team player.
  • Structured, solution-focused, and delivery-driven.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, high-complexity environments.
