The São Paulo office will be CTS's primary engineering and delivery hub for Latin America, supporting global data centre projects and digital transformation initiatives in collaboration with teams across Europe. About the Role
The Mechanical Engineer – HVAC/Data Centers at CTS Group is responsible for the design, coordination, and delivery of cooling systems and associated mechanical packages for critical infrastructure and mission-critical data center facilities. The role ensures that all cooling solutions are efficient, reliable, scalable, and fully integrated with other building systems. The position supports fast-track project execution and requires strong interface management, technical expertise, and a collaborative profile.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop cooling system components and mechanical packages from concept through to IFC and as-built stages.
- Support the selection, sizing, and integration of cooling equipment such as chillers, CRAHs, CDUs, pumps, and heat rejection systems.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, ABNT/NBR standards, international standards, and client technical requirements.
- Coordinate closely with electrical, structural, architectural, and specialist package teams.
- Support fast-track delivery with timely design updates and clarifications.
- Provide technical input for constructability, commissioning, and handover.
- Respond to RFIs and support site teams during construction.
- Optimize solutions for energy efficiency, reliability, and maintainability.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
- Active CREA registration or eligibility for registration (mandatory for practice in Brazil).
- Relevant certifications in HVAC, thermal systems, or data center cooling are an advantage.
Functional Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of critical cooling systems (CRAH/CRAC, chillers, liquid cooling, heat exchangers, pumps).
- Understanding of high-density and liquid-cooled data center environments.
- Proficiency in 3D modelling tools such as AutoCAD and Revit.
- Experience with DCIM tools and interface coordination.
- Knowledge of redundancy concepts (N+1, 2N), resilience, and uptime requirements.
- Familiarity with applicable ABNT/NBR standards for mechanical and critical infrastructure installations.
Minimum Experience Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience in critical infrastructure or mission-critical data center environments.
- Experience with data centers, offshore platforms, marine systems, or modular systems is preferred.
- Proven experience working in multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Experience supporting construction and commissioning phases.
- Hands-on involvement in technical design and execution.
- Exposure to high-reliability systems and environments.
